Privacy Policy

Short version: we count visits, we don’t sell anything about you, and we don’t run Google Analytics. Here’s the rest, in plain English.

Who we are

This site is My Bass Fishing Guide (mybassfishingguide.com), run by Todd Lavergne. Questions about this page go to support@mybassfishingguide.com.

Visitor stats

We use Independent Analytics, a WordPress plugin that runs on our own site. The stats stay in our WordPress database. We don’t use Google Analytics.

Independent Analytics says it uses no cookies, doesn’t store your IP address, and doesn’t send data to outside servers. It counts things like which pages get read, which site sent you here, your device and browser type, and your general location (like country). It tells repeat visits apart with a scrambled ID, not your name.

In other words, we can see that someone on a phone read the Lake Fork page. We can’t see that it was you.

Comments and email

We don’t run contact forms or a newsletter sign-up on this site.

If comments are turned on and you leave one, WordPress stores what you type plus the name, email address and IP address you submit with it, so we can moderate spam. If you’d like a comment removed, email us.

If you email support@mybassfishingguide.com, we’ll have your email address and whatever you wrote. We use it to answer you, and that’s it.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site go to other companies, like Amazon. If you click one, that site may set its own cookies so it knows the visit came from us. Their privacy policy covers what they do, not ours. More on how these links work on our affiliate disclosure page.

Other links, like the ones to guides’ websites or TPWD, take you to sites with their own privacy rules too.

Hosting

The site is hosted by HostGator. Like most web hosts, their servers keep standard logs of requests, which can include IP address, browser type and the page asked for. Those logs are used to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

Regular visitors shouldn’t get any cookies from us for stats. WordPress sets cookies if you log in to the site or leave a comment. Sites you click through to may set their own.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data.
  • We don’t rent or trade email addresses.
  • We don’t build ad profiles or run ad-tracking pixels.

Questions or requests

Want to know what we have about you, or want something deleted? Email support@mybassfishingguide.com and we’ll sort it out.

If this page changes, we’ll update the date at the top.
