The short version: the EWG’s wide gap leaves room for a fat plastic and the hook point. The drop shot hook is light wire so a small bait still moves. Tungsten gets you a smaller weight for the same ounce. None of it helps if you set the hook like you’re starting a lawnmower. Okay, maybe a little.
Who should skip this
- Skip drop shot hooks if you never fish finesse plastics. They just ride around in the box.
- Skip the weights if you only throw a weightless Senko. You need patience, not tungsten.
- Skip the whole hook box if your guide furnishes tackle. Ask first.
